Code of Ethics

DO NO HARM
ASNAC Medicine People strive to safeguard the rights and welfare of those with whom they interact, the welfare of all living things, and of the Earth herself.

RESPONSIBILITY
Our Ministers regularly perform service and support the Spiritual Community as appropriate. Contributing to the greater good is an honor and Spiritual duty.

INTEGRITY, HONOR, and SERVICE
Our Healers hold to a Goodness Ethic. We strive to care for ourselves, our families, and our community through cooperation.

RESPECT
ASNAC Medicine People have respect for self and others. With honor and dignity we find worth in diversity and hold the life of all living things as Sacred.
Code of Conduct
We commit to living a Sacred Earth–Honoring Lifestyle which Embodies the Native American Principles of Gratitude, Humility, Faith, Respect, Honor, Charity, and Forgiveness.
We commit to using sacred indigenous medicines and ceremonies to empower our body, mind and spirit and to serve ourselves and others and thereby creating peace and harmony in our relationships.
We commit that we will understand our responsibility to financially sustain and support those who bless us. We will remember that our Medicine People and leaders have lives and families that need their time and they need to provide for them. We will be respectful and generous as they support and assist us.
We will keep all Ceremonial Sacraments that are also controlled substances inside the Ceremonial Area. These sacramental medicines will never be shared with those who do not attend Ceremony. We understand that doing so removes our legal protection and exposes us to legal prosecution.
We understand that to manipulate or take advantage of others emotionally, sexually, mentally, spiritually or physically is a violation of the Church’s Ethical Code and may expose us to legal prosecution and Church disciplinary action. Any behavior like this, especially during or after a ceremony when others are in an open state, will not be tolerated.
We commit to making an effort to spend time each day in meditation and prayer, drawing closer to the Creator/God/Goddess/ Great Spirit and all of creation, Mother Earth, her living beings, such as: the Mountains, Rocks, Trees, Streams, Rivers, Lakes, Water Systems, Oceans, Father Sky, Winged Creatures, all two-legged’s and four-legged’s.
We commit that we will keep the Church Ceremonies and what is shared there by others sacred. We will keep confidence and not disclose personal information expressed by attendees to any other person that did not attend the ceremony circle.
We understand that being a member of Awakening Soul Native American Church (ASNAC) puts us in the position where people may judge the organization by our actions and words. We will not do things that reflect badly on ASNAC and our other members. We will use public media in a positive and respectful way, not criticizing other members or violating the sacred trusts developed in the Awakening Soul Church family circles. This includes social media, interviews and other public forums. If we have criticisms or concerns with another member, we will work it out with them directly or through our leaders within ASNAC.
We agree to respect the church’s sacramental medicines and only use them in ceremony. We understand that any use for recreational or abusive purposes exposes us to legal prosecution.
